Shower Before Your Appointment

In our previous blog, we discussed the importance of showing up to your appointment with a clean face and clean eyelashes. In addition to washing your face before your appointment, it’s also a good idea to take a shower before you arrive. The reason we recommend arriving freshly showered is because once you receive your eyelash extensions, you won’t be able to get them wet for the first 24 to 48 hours after application. The adhesive used to attach the extensions to your natural eyelashes needs time to completely bond with the eyelash. Water from your shower, swimming, a sauna, or even crying can cause problems with the adhesive.

Avoid Oil-Based Products

Prior to your appointment, avoid using any oil-based products, including eye creams, mascara, concealers, and any other products you frequently use around your eyes. If you notice that some of your products are oil-based, be sure that they are completely removed prior to your appointment, as oil will not allow the adhesive to bond with your lashes.

Receive Lash Tints and Facials Before Your Appointment

If you are someone who regularly tints their lashes to make them stand out, you will want to have this done approximately 24 to 48 hours before your eyelash extension appointment. The chemicals and compounds found in lash dye can cause problems with the lash adhesive, so if you want the best results, you will want to plan ahead.

The same concept goes for a facial. If you want to get a facial treatment, be sure to schedule the appointment before you get your lash extensions. As we mentioned above, any sort of water or steam will cause damage to your extensions, therefore it’s best to get any facial treatments out of the way before you receive your eyelash extensions. If you can’t schedule your facial until after your lash extension appointment, it’s best to wait at least 48 hours after the application to get a facial.
